Victoria Azarenka beats Angelique Kerber to reach first final for three years


Previous world number one Victoria Azarenka contacted her first singles last in three years by overcoming top seed Angelique Kerber at the Monterrey Open.

The Belarusian beat Kerber – another previous world number one – 6 4 6-1.

She currently faces Spain’s Garbine Muguruza in Sunday’s last in Mexico.

“I haven’t won a considerable lot of those in the last couple years so it’s great that I’m ready to turn it around and get my dimension,” Azarenka said.

The 29-year-old last challenged singles last in April 2016, winning both Indian Wells and Miami inside about fourteen days before reporting her pregnancy soon thereafter and bringing forth child Leo in December.
